Who Owns and Runs MVCExchange.com?

MVCExchange.com was created by two Marriott Vacation Club® owners like yourself, who after seeing the changes they have recently introduced with the new ‘Points’ system, saw the need for a system whereby Vacation Club Owners could exchange Weeks amongst themselves without incurring fees for transferring in to the points system and provide the ability to arrange an "equal" exchange. The owners of MVCExchange.com are completely independent, and not affiliated in any way with Marriott.

Who can join and search MVCExchange.com?

Any person may search for the MVCExchange website and view the Exchanges posted by owners. MVCExchange is restricted to the use of Marriott Vacation Club ® Owners interested in exchanging with each other and must register on the website in order to participate. There are no charges for registering, searching and posting your exchange weeks on the site. There is a small one-time charge of $49 should you wish to exchange with another Marriott vacation club owner. Any Marriott Owner can participate registering a week they wish to consider exchanging which gets your property into the exchange database and allows others to find you as they seek other Owners to exchange with. You are not committing to anything by inputting a week in to the database.

Can Non-Marriott owners participate in the site?

The site has been designed to only accommodate Marriott resorts allow us to focus on Marriott owners wishing to exchange with other Marriott owners. I’m afraid we do not anticipate allowing any non-Marriott properties in to the site.

Why should I join?

First, because with MVCExchange.com you can see the choices for weekly trades available to you by other owners and you can investigate them and communicate with the other Owners wanting to trade with you without having to give up or "bank" your week. So you never give up your week unless you have arranged exactly the exchange you desire. Second, it costs you nothing to join, search or register your week on the website. And it's FREE.

Can I exchange back into my home resort using MVCExchange.com?

Yes, you can indicate your own resort as one into which you would like to trade. Most owners are seeking to trade elsewhere, but there are some seeking to trade back into their home resort during a different season than they own.

What is the cost of exchange membership in MVCExchange.com?

It is FREE to register, search and register your exchange week on the website.

Once you and another member have agreed to exchange your weeks there is a one-time charge of $49 per week to exchange the property for both parties. All payments are made via PayPal, which can be used without requiring a PayPal account by using your credit card if required.

What if my property uses different "seasons" than Bronze / Silver / Gold / Platinum and I only have a one-bedroom property but I’m looking to exchange for a two-bedroom property?

Generally Platinum, Gold, and Silver seasons trade as the "High" season, and Bronze trades as the "low" season. However, we do not differentiate between these weeks and if you are able to exchange your ‘Low’ season property for a ‘High’ season one then that’s great. In addition there may well be owners that are willing to exchange a two-bedroom property for a small one.

I own several properties I would consider trading - what should I do?

You can enter as many properties and weeks as you own that you would consider trading. Remember you are not committing to anything by adding your property to the database until you confirm your exchange with the other owner.

Do all the amenities come with the trade?

There are some sites that have features that do not come with the trade. For example, at certain resorts, some owners have signed up for the golf package. The golf package can only be used by the owners, so if you trade into one of those properties the golf package that belongs to the owner there cannot be used by you. Check with the owner first.

 What about the new Points System. Can I exchange my Week with you for Points

I’m afraid we do not provide the ability to exchange your weeks for points on our site. You should contact Marriott directly to discuss this with them

 Do you provide the ability to purchase Points?

We do not provide the ability to purchase points at this time.

Marriott have made it clear that any corporation or individual that is seen to be dealing with points will be excluded from the points system in the future. However, they will allow owners to freely purchase or sell points for personal use.

Our plan is to expand the site shortly to help owners purchase unwanted points from other owners.

 What information does PayPal need for me to send my payment?

You will need to provide PayPal with your credit card number, address, etc.

 I am concerned about my privacy

MVCExchange.com does not share your information with any third party. As part of its terms and conditions, MVCExchange.com commits that it will not make its database information available to anyone in any form other than by the search engines which are on the site for the purposes of finding exchanges.

Why must I use the Message Board to communicate with the other owners and not communicate directly?
For Privacy and Security reasons we ask that email Addresses, Telephone numbers, etc. are not exchanged until the exchange has been agreed.

 How can I guarantee that the other owner will go through with the exchange?

We have included a simple contract that both owners should sign. In addition check with the exchanged resort to ensure the owner has included your name as the visitor for that week.

 
I can't remember what I signed up, how can I review my current entries?

Sign in to your account and use the ‘Work with Exchanges’ to update and delete your exchange weeks.

 
What can go wrong in making an exchange?

The biggest "risk" in this process is that you and your trading partner are counting on each other to make the agreed upon reservations for each other's use. If one of you backs out of your agreed-upon arrangements, or fails to follow through, it could lead to disappointment.
